MFF and other stuffs
Nov. 6th, 2008 10:03 amMFF is just a couple of weeks away and I am getting excited. I'm going to be staying with a friend who just got into furry this year although won't be his first con. It's amazing to see how many of my friends have gotten into furry, some because of me or because of friends that I introduced to furry. I mean I can understand why though. Furry is a mixed group of really cool dorks basically. We all like about the same stuff but then also have many different other likes as well.
I am making my BF stay at the hotel this year with me. He didn't get the time off but he would really like to go to the con and try to enjoy it. The few times he went he seemed a little apprehensive about it. Mainly because there are a lot of people there and he's not very fond of large crowds. I'm not too fond of them either but at the same time I have learned the most cons even if there are large crowds there are groups within those crowds. So you can sit with a few people and get to know them or hang out with one friend or whatever. The only bad thing is whenever you want to see someone specifically they are usually busy.
I love MFF though. It has been the only con I have ever gone to (consistently of course). I would love to go to others but I usually don't have the time or money... well never used to. With my new job I may be able to go to another con just not sure which at this point. Probably will go to AC mainly to see Kelby and other furiends that I don't see as often as I'd like. I don't know though what will happen. I want to vacation with my puppy somewhere nice and hopefully overseas (which reminds me I need to update my drivers license with the correct birthday).
One of the things I have been seriously of is making my own fursuit. I have the serger and at some point will have a sewing machine too just need to get the fur and concept art. I'm still unsure who to commission for concept art. I am thinking of Kien still but also thinking of Moose as well. I'm just not sure exactly what I want to go for. I mean my character isn't completely built up in my mind furwise. I mean should he have earrings, should he have tattoos, etc. Obviously will have the spectacles (which I'm sure I can make them pretty easily... I hope at least) but should he always be clothed or unclothed (and if he is always clothed should I make the suit overly naughty or nice). These are a lot of the questions that are going through my head with this. And my biggest problem, I think, would be the head. I really need some good instruction on this. Need to read through my old Fursuit creation book. I'm sure most of the things are pretty much the same although would still like to talk to someone who actually makes them.
Another thing I keep on thinking is that I would like to start something up of my own with sewing. Of course need to learn more but I want to make all different sorts of clothing. One of my more interesting ideas is making costumes and clothing for over peoples fursuits. I mean if you think about it it's a pretty much untapped market and with more and more fursuits the more they would need a costume change that would actually fit the suit rather than actually buy something that manages to cover it. That and wouldn't people like to have costumes to go with their partials as well. I really want to do this but need to learn to sew. I think I may just end up going out and buying a new sewing machine for cheap and learning what I can with it since I know some of the basics now.
Anyway that's what's on my mind now.
Also I usually don't say much about birthdays here mainly because I either don't usually post when they happen or whatever but would like to wish Perro a Happy Birthday, mainly because he turned the big 3 0. Don't worry about it though mutt the first year isn't bad it's when you turn 31 that you realize you're old ;3
