School Uniform Update (surprise suprise)
Dec. 1st, 2009 01:24 pmSo I was just checking out how much things would cost just for the basics for all the test material that I would need from them and here's what I came up with:
$16.00 Peacock Flannel Fabric - 5 yards = $80.00
$16.00 Light Grey Flannel Fabric - 3 yard = $48.00
$5.75 Satin Lining - Baby Blue - 5 yards = $28.75
$3.50 Solid Pants Lining 100% Polyester - 60" - White - 3 Yards = $10.50
Sub-Total = $167.25
$1.95 Italian 1/4" Light Blue Twisted Lip Cord Trim LT-119 - 20 = $39.00
Sub-Total = $206.25
$0.25 Pastel Blue Ribbing = $5.00
Sub-Total = $211.25
This doesn't include taxes or shipping, which my guesstimations would probably be about 100 more dollars. So the grand total for this test phase would be about 315 dollars.
That's a lot... Not that this is stopping me but just for materials alone for enough to work with and make mistakes with that's a bit of money. This still doesn't cover it all either, that and I really wanted to get those two books because I think they'd be rather useful. Things this doesn't include but are more minor are materials for making the cap brim, pockets, buttons, zippers, etc.
I still really want to do this though. Not only do I think I will learn a lot in this process but also think I could come up with something rather nice hopefully. I would buy more material and such if I had the money and I knew I would actually fully follow through and would want to continue making them after I make a test one or two but I'm not sure how this is going to pan out or even how long this will take. I will save that part for the final pieces which would be socks and sweater vest (that is if I go through the company in the UK).
I do have to say this has gotten me totally energized though. I mean I haven't done this much research for anything since college for my writing ideas. Also I love that I have LJ to post all these things to as well. It makes it easier to see what I am thinking about it and get some ideas fro other people to. So if you have any ideas, thoughts, comments, smart remarks, please let me know :3
