Okay I have been tossing around in my head an idea for a store. There's a few problems with this but let me get to the idea of it first.
The idea of the store is to basically be a DIY clothing store & accessory store. No I don't mean a put your own design on a T-shirt and make bead bracelets, I'm talking full scale DIY. The store would have parts to make things, like cloth and other materials, and then it'd have sewing machines in which to make them from. Also since we'd have a few machines there'd be classes on sewing and such. We'd also sell clothes that were either made by patrons or made by me (once I get off my butt and make things). So basically if you have a pattern you like but don't know how to sew we could teach you, something like that. Most of the clothes we'd sell would be mainly costumey in nature I would think (IE fit into some genre of style rather than just a basic thing).
I really like the idea but here are the problems.
1. I have absolutely no idea where to begin. Basically I think to start this idea start it small and go with a website and make designs that either people can buy the design or buy the already made product. But in the same token I would need to actually make designs and make clothing which I've never done either yet.
2. Fundage. Something like this is not going to be cheap. Starting on the web would be a good start but I am completely horrible with advertising websites even to friends. I would think I could inform some of my LJ groups about such a site but I would think I would have to first get the site set up before any kind-of advertising can begin. The only way I could see any type of store coming from this though is if it's successful enough on the net. Right now not even considering the thought of a store until I can get the idea itself off the ground and probably get a partner or something in order to help support the place.
3. Website Design. Okay I think I could do set up but not design. I'm very good at knowing how to keep a site maintained though, basically. If I set up a site I would probably use Drupal as the base and then try and see if I can get some art from some furs as the design aspect of the site (just need to figure out how to set that up too). I know art can be rather expensive as well and there are a couple of artists that I like enough to make a full site from, but even then yeah complete site creation I would be clueless about.
4. Laziness. Yeah you knew that one was coming if you've ever read my LJ. I just can't seem to wake myself up enough at home to do much of anything. Even with this truly grand idea I just am not motivated at home to do much if anything. I need to solve this problem before I can achieve anything above.
I do have a bit more details on the store idea but at the same time don't really want anyone to take it from me (not that it's completely original either I bet). So yeah any suggestions, thoughts, smart remarks would be nice to hear.
