What's up

Jan. 13th, 2009 09:24 am
It feels like I haven't posted in a while. So let's recap.

Last week our friend John came with his wife Polly and hung out with us while enjoying our wonderful city. During the day while we were at work they enjoyed the museums and at night we hung out and ate lots and lots of food. I last week also started and quickly stopped doing my calorie counting personal posts. Something about it... I don't know I think I should start it up again but it makes me too overly conscious of what I eat, almost to the point of not wanting to eat much of anything. I dunno I will have to rethink on how to loose weight in general.

After they left we kind-of realized we had been eating out way too much and decided to stay at home and save money. So last weekend we went out and shopped on Sunday.

On Saturday though we had another friend named John visit from the UK. He was a really cool guy and rather cute too, and of course accent... I love a man with an accent, well most anyway heh. He was impressed by our snow and wanted to just see some of the city. Unfortunately it was, well snowing so couldn't really show him much of the city but we too a few of the loop routes which helped a bit. We ended up going to the Garfield Park Conservatory though. As usual very nice place and the humidity there really helped too. After that we went to Hackney's because he wanted a "real" american meal, and whats more american that large portions hamburgers, fries and beer. My BF, our friend and John got a bit drunk (my BF and friend a bit more so than John). We parted ways shortly after and went home to relax.

On other things I just read an article from Digg that basically states that people who procrastinate are more likely to think in abstractions. I'm typically an abstract thinker but the problem is the way they say to solve it is don't think abstractly... Ummmm how is that really a solution. If you typically think in abstractions how can you, all of a sudden, not think that way. It's like telling people in order to get thin don't eat things that are bad for you. I mean yeah that's great but you know you give the reason why but you never give the answer on how. And in general that's not always true. I have a story that I pretty much have planned out story wise but it doesn't help me sit down and write it. Maybe I'm just thinking too abstractly with it but you know if want to give someone who has a problem with procrastination a way to fix it you just can't give them an abstract answer.
