More on why I like Obama
Mar. 5th, 2008 10:24 amI have posted a few times here on why I like Obama but there is another reason I just thought of today.
I really like Obama because he's a listener. Let me explain: Whenever he is in the debates he lets Hillary go first. Why? Because he wants to listen to her response. He wants to know what she says in order to give a good reaction to it. Not only that but he seems to listen to what the public wants. We don't need another "Decider" president. We need a Listener. We need someone who will listen to what we need not to what they think we need. We need someone to stand up for what we believe in not back down as soon as they get elected. We need to listen to what other countries say about us and try to fix those problems rather than ignoring them in general.
Someone just told me though that the reason they don't like Mrs. Clinton is she seems like one of those people whom in public she is so nice and friendly but behind your back she the one spreading all the gossip and lies about you. She basically is putting on a Facade whereas you can tell from Obama that he is not, or at least I don't get the feeling he is.
My only problem thus far with Obama is the attacking coming from Clinton. He needs to be able to defend himself better especially if he wants to go up against the republicans who are probably grabbing as much information on him as possible, since I'm sure they have a backlog of stuff for Mrs. Clinton. He needs to be able to come back from these things unscathed which he didn't in Texas and Ohio. If he won those two states then he wouldn't have had much left to worry about but unfortunately now he has to continue to fight within his own party against an Iconic name (which is being spoiled with every attack that Mrs. Clinton makes).
As for Rhetoric, I like it. I'm all for a moving speech the stirs the emotions of the country rather than attack ads that makes us all hate the government and want to stay inside and eat rather than vote. Attack ads make me not want to watch TV anymore and in fact I think it's what's wrong with the American Political system itself. Why can't people run on issues rather than with attacks? Why can't we have hope rather than despair? Why can't we as a people break the despair of the current government and gain hope for our future? These are the questions I would love have answered with our next elected official.
Either way though I think if Clinton wins the Democratic Nomination then I will not be voting for her and seeing what Independent choices there are out there.
