Steampunk Trance Opera
Feb. 22nd, 2008 10:38 amI have been having this neat idea recently about a Steampunk Trance Opera (or maybe dance or rave or whatever). Basically I have loved all the Opera Trance I have found and really think there needs to be a full-blown Opera made out of it. So I have come up with a general story.
The story is about a young prince whom runs away from home and because a sky pirate but he falls in love with a princess from a rival territory and kidnaps her. This starts a war between the two rival countries/principalities/territory. The Princess of course at first hates her captor but eventually falls in love with him but their parents still want to kill each other. Here's the problem I'm not sure how to resolve this exactly. It could go the way of Romeo and Juliet and they sacrifice themselves to save their families, or maybe the prince gets kidnapped and the princess begs for his life... Like I said not sure.
There is a secondary story but not sure how to fit it in either (or if there would be time to fit it in). Aboard the ship there is a girl who seems to know that there is an audience watching her and she falls in love with a crazy inventor and pretends to be a clockwork girl so she can spend time with him and hopefully have him love her. Not sure the turn out of that one either but it's more for comic relief than anything.
So that's the story. The main problem with this whole thing is the music though. I would love to have a dance/techno music without using electronic devices. Basically I would love to have a full orchestra with electric guitars and such making dance music rather than it all be computer generated. Another thing I was thinking is making the langauge sung not english. English is a decent language but I don't think with opera it gives the same power as another language. The problem there is I don't know the language to use either (and I'm not really good with making songs in general).
So that's my idea. If anyone would like to give some input or anything please do.
