Console Wars
Aug. 7th, 2006 10:41 amOkay I am a huge fan of Nintendo's (for those that don't actually know this). I mean I am a self professed NintenDork. I love about everything they do and they can do no wrong... Okay so well thing they have done wrong N64 sticking with cartridge and making Sony release the PS1 as an actual system rather than an add on. They learning a bit of their mistake with the Gamecube but it was too late because well they released it too late and didn't attract the third party support they needed.
Now they seem to really be doing everything right. So far eveything I hear about the console wars seems to be centered around Nintendo. The Xbox360 is already out, has many systems breaking down, and has a lack of good games at the moment and the PS3 is a horrendiously expensive experiment on the public.
Truth be told I was excited about the Gamecube when it came out but really didn't expect it to do better than the Playstation. I do expect the Wii however to surpass all of the other systems. Nintendo has completely learned from their mistakes and proof is in the DS. I just hate seeing when people talk about the console war that they aren't including the Wii with it. I mean yes I agree that Nintendo themselves said they aren't competeing in the race but you know that's a lie.
A video game console is a video game console (unless it's a PS3 then it's a computer that can play BRDVD's) so saying that it's not in competion is a bold face lie. I thing though saying it this way is more like saying "We know you will probably have one of the other systems but you really want to have this one no matter what."
Why am I posting this? I don't know maybe because I'm just tired of reading all the crap about the other systems and how much better than are graphically and blah blah blah. If graphics was the win all for a system then the NES should have died when the Genisis came out years ago. The one thing I am glad about though it took a few losses but Nintendo has finally got the message. It's not the fact that you are "Nintendo" and why shouldn't you make games for our system, but that give something that developers want to develop for and what the public wants.
So yeah that's basically my two cents on the whole subject and now I just can't wait until the Wii's release.
