This weekend was quite awesome so maybe I should go into details about it.
Before I go into more details should also say my roommate/ex went away for Thursday for work/visit his new BF and a local friend of ours also went away for the weekend to visit his family so I had two households of kitties to take care of which limited my time out.
Anyway the weekend actually started Thursday for me as my friend Nova Shepard came in early and we hung out right after work and I convinced my boss I needed Friday off for a mental holiday (with quarterlies and board meeting just done I desperately needed the break). So after dropping stuff at my place and quickly going back out to feed my friends cat we stopped by Ben's Noodles and Rice which is by far still the best Thai food I have ever had. Afterwords we went back to my place and hung out for a bit before heading to bed.
Friday woke up somewhat early and relaxed watching the news before waking Nova up for some breakfast at Suzie's Noon Hour Grill (mmmmmm bulgogi breakfast). After that we went back got changed into more... appropriate clothing for MIR and went to the market which happened to be dead. Okay we did get there just as it opened so I guess there's something to be said about that. We shopped for a bit then went downstairs to Whole Foods for a snack while we waited for more people to show up. It seemed the flood gates opened up after we left though cause when we got back most of our friends were upstairs. There was a lot of hanging out and having of the funs but as much as I like hanging out with friends I'm not overly fond of rubber (well latex type... all over the body that is, more of a neoprene man) so when I saw Woody was setting up a movie gathering for non-squeaky furs I decided to join them. So Nova and I went back to my place he gathered his stuff and I took care of my kitties there then went to take care of my friends kitty then headed over to Woody's place. I don't think I have ever hung out with Woody with so few people before, which was great actually. There were two others leaving with Woody and I to get burbs, Gcan (at least I think that's his name, as it's his twitter name) and Bob. We went to the theater where we meet up with Metro, Pamf, and Toz. We got our tickets for Megamind (which we didn't realize was in 3D and iMax) and went inside for snacks and movie goodness. Megamind is a great movie btw very well done for 3D too, also I will never look at Churros the same as there was much giggling to be had once mention it. So after getting back to Woody's place I was so tired that I just decided to go home and crash.
Saturday woke up early again, watched some toons and texted to see what was up with people. After a bit got up and dressed and got to the hotel for lobbycon. Everyone had to get ready after their breakfast so I followed them up and found Perro was going to add his leather racing jacket, that was now too big for him, to the gear sale. I tried it on and just told him not to even worry about it cause I wanted it and I'd get him the money as soon as I could which he was cool with. We then went to the Halsted Center again and everyone rushed in for the used gear sale. Of course everything that people wanted though was already taken by vendors (which I can understand since they wouldn't have been able to shop when it opened officially but still sucked). But it still seemed like there was a lot of good stuff. I really think IML and maybe even furry cons should do something similar because it helps people sell their stuff (although with furrycons... maybe things should be cleaned first). Anyway there was much more hanging out with friends (which is numerous and I will add at the end) and then lunch from Whole Foods again then it was time for certain mutts to get all pupped up and play around in for the pup party. While waiting for them I asked Perro if I could go ahead and wear the jacket even though I hadn't paid for it yet and he was cool with that. So went back to the Center and had more fun. Eventually we had to get ready for dinner as it was Perro's Birthday and well it had to be celebrated. We went to Goose Island in Wrigleyville and had decent meals there as we all chatted and much fun was had. Then back to the hotel in which everyone was going to get ready for Jackhammer and I decided maybe I should take care of the kitties and did that and once again crashed at home.
Sunday met up with Nova and hung out for a bit with him and Jerry, then Toz came over as well and hung out for a bit longer before heading over to the Center once more. It was actually good to hang out with Toz, he was one of those that I had always seen at Woody's parties but never really got to talk much to and he's really a decent guy. Anyway more shopping, more hanging with friends, more lunch at Whole Foods. Nova and Toz had other plans so they left and Jerry and I went back up. We stayed in the market until it basically closed then the usual group of friends ended up back at the hotel and deciding upon dinner (which was the sushi place we tend to always go to on the last day). Dinner took a while but was good nonetheless and missed having Jason get home after dinner said my goodbyes and left for the evening.
Brett and Jason both got home on Sunday Jason while I was at dinner and Brett after I had gotten home (which was good cause he would need his keys) but I didn't get to feed his cat that night.
Long story short (Too late I know) it was an awesome time and good lead into MFF which is not this weekend but next. Thanks to all new friends and good friends for the fun times and they are; Nova, John, Jet, Hunter, Perro, Woody, Toz, Kerwin, Jerry, Pamf, Rus, Kyle... and many others I can't even think of atm. You guys definitely made this an awesome weekend
