Weekend fun
Mar. 23rd, 2009 09:37 amSo this weekend on a spur of the moment decision my BF, Friend and I went up to Madison Saturday night into Sunday. It was quite a fun trip. Went downtown to State Street, walked up and down it and visited a local coffee shop. One of the stores that were actually open at the time was a used book store that had a variety of books new and, mostly, old. I actually found a book on dyeing fabrics that was last published in 1902. It was a cute little book and thought since I am interested in fashion design and Victorian Era things that the book was an awesome find. Picked it up for $15. After that we went back to the hotel and enjoyed the pool.
Sunday morning we went back into the city after "enjoying" the hotels free continental breakfast. In truth there was really nothing to enjoy at the breakfast and by the time we got back to State Street we were all wanting something to nibble on and something to drink. This time we went to another coffee shop, BTW I love the fact that there's like ten independent coffee shops right down State Street. I've always had this idea of a cool lounge like coffee shop but never could find one like the one I visited in Cincinnati frequently when I was coming out. Anyway this one was better then the previous (Free Trade Coffee I think was the name). Anyway while we waited around for the stores to open we walked to the school campus and explored a little bit. There was a nice hat shop, Sacred Feather ( http://www.sacredfeather.com/ ), I had found the day before that was closed that I wanted to visit so I was mostly waiting for them to open. I ended up getting the the Top hat that I had looked at in Chicago in Belmont Army. Still I wanted a slightly smaller one but I think this will do for now. It's funny too when I told the lady who was helping me what I wanted she said that everyone asks for the same thing, it was also cool that we had the same hat size heh.
After exploring more of the area we went to Rocky Roccocos for Pizza. I wasn't thoroughly impressed but I'm sure it didn't help that this place was like a Chuck E Cheese. The Pizza was okay nothing to shout home about but I guess since I don't like Sausage I miss another great pizza because of it. After that we drove home, did a little shopping at Farm & Fleet and Walmart on the way, and did laundry and watched my new copy of Bolt :3 and afterwords watched our Netflix copy of Twilight.
So basically it was a great weekend and awesome weather to enjoy it in. Have to do another impromptu rendezvous again sometime :3
