Cincy Trip
Dec. 22nd, 2008 12:33 pmOkay before some of my friend freak out, yes I did go to Cincinnati this weekend but it was for a Family visit. We did see one of our friends but he was close by and we had a lil bit of time to spare. I wish we could have stayed longer and visited all my friends in Cincy but unfortunately we couldn't as we both had to work Friday and Monday. Now that that is over with let's get on with the weekend review.
After work I take my usual train home (it rather sucked too cause I got off early and the only train to Rogers Park before that is at 4:35 or so). When I get home I put away my "purchase" and then started to finish packing while my pup was getting us dinner. Once he got home we basically ate with our friend Eric (who happened to have been hanging out with Jason all day since his work decided to close for the day due to weather) and then packed up and left. In the process of leaving Jason accidentally ran over Eric's foot (sorry). Both of us really thought he was in the car so were rather shocked and surprised it happened. So we quietly drove Eric back home and luckily nothing seemed to be broken just rather numb (thank you thick snow boots). After dropping Eric off though we set in my Brother Jason's address into the GPS and drive off. Luckily the rest of the trip was very uneventful and got to Cincinnati at about midnight our time (so 1 Cincy time) and went straight to bed. The hotel room was okay definitely not bad for the price my mom paid (was part of her gift to us basically seeing us heh) The room itself had two beds since there were no Kings left and it smelled dank. Otherwise it was a decent room for a two nighter.
Saturday Morning, we get up when we got up which I think was about 9ish and had the hotels free continental breakfast. Afterwards we head on over to my Brothers house. My brother has a decent house and not a bad neighborhood... although they seem a little to close to one set of parents for my liking (I mean I love my mom but I moved to Chicago when I was living with her before and then she up and moved to Charleston because I left). Anyway Jason is an awesome father. Lola is incredibly adorable and totally well behaved and I am sure it's because she has great parents. It made me jealous in a few different ways but at the same time I'm kind-of glad I don't have to deal with that as of yet. I mean I may want a child at some point but not right now. Anyway we hung out at the house for a while and get re-acquainted. Afterwards my mom, my BF and I decided we wanted to get some Gold Star Chili for lunch and also wanted to see the old neighborhood. The whole trip was a "The more things change, the more they stay the same" feel to it. In fact the more we looked around the more I felt that I am glad that I moved. We got back to my Bro's home and decided we should open Christmas gifts then. It was fun because Lola loves to rip paper, or at least seemed to since she ripped the phone book earlier. She is at that age that the toys are okay but the boxes are more fun, especially when they are big enough to climb into. I wasn't really expecting any gifts except for Cincinnati Chili but surprisingly we got a few things. My mom got us calendars and a digital photo frame and my moms best friend got us some throws. Anyway after the gift exchange Lola needed a nap and then we all went to dinner. While there we get to a table basically right underneath an annoying neon light and we pretty much think that the light was affecting Lola because she was a little antsy and upset but no where near like the kids you hear screaming in the restaurants where no one is even taking care of the kid. Jason and Jamie made sure she was comfortable and made sure she didn't scream too much. Otherwise she was pretty well behaved. After dinner my Jason and I decided we wanted to hang out with a friend that knew we were coming so we went back to the hotel room and invited him over. We hung out until about 12 or 1 and then went to bed.
Sunday. Went to breakfast at a buffet. Never been to a buffet for breakfast but it was good. After that my mom, Jason and I go shopping for coats in which I find nothing that I like but my mom finds something for my oldest brother, Brian at least. Once we get back to my bro's house we get a CD of all the pics taken and discreetly give him pics from our camera and then head home trying to get home before it gets dark and avoiding as much bad weather as possible.
All in all I am finally glad it's over with because now I am relatively calm and enjoyed every second I had there. I really wish my Mom weren't so far away because I really miss doing things with her but I am glad I live in Chicago. I really felt when we were driving back that I was home when we got into Chicago. It was a warm and awesome feeling to have :3
